Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974), Section 160, 438, 482 – Blanket Anticipatory bail – Alleged, due to participation in the protest of the Farmers' Bill, 2020, the police are running after petitioners to implicate in some false case apart from harassing and humiliating them by conducting raids at their houses under the influence of the senior leaders of the ruling party -- Without commenting upon the merits of the case or opining on the veracity of the allegations the petition disposed of with a direction that in case the presence of the petitioners is required in connection with the investigation of any case, procedure as contemplated under Section 160 Cr.P.C be strictly followed.

1. In the instant writ petition filed under Section 438 read with Section 482 Cr.P.C, prayer is for grant of pre-arrest/Blanket bail to the petitioners in complaint lodged at the behest of the local leaders of Congress party of Bathinda Constitutency in district Bathinda and District Mansa.
2. It is stated that the petitioners were active workers of Congress party for last 25 years and had close relations with the senior political leaders of the Congress party. During the said period, petitioner No.2 remained as President of Truck Union, Gidderbaha whereas petitioner Nos.1 & 3 were working as Secretary and Treasurer respectively of the said Truck Union.
3. Grievance of the petitioners is that on account of their participation in the protest of the recent Farmers' Bill, 2020, the police are running after them to implicate in some false case apart from harassing and humiliating them by conducting raids at their houses under the influence of the senior leaders of the ruling party.
4. Without commenting upon the merits of the case or opining on the veracity of the allegations contained in the petition, this petition is disposed of with a direction that in case the presence of the petitioners is required in connection with the investigation of any case, procedure as contemplated under Section 160 Cr.P.C be strictly followed.
Order accordingly.
