RITU BAHRI, J. (ORAL) –
1. Instant writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents No.3 and 4 to release the petitioner on emergency parole from 15.02.2023 to 20.02.2023 under Section 3(1)(A) of Punjab Good Conduct Prisoner Temporary Release Act, 1962 and amendment Act, 2015.

Learned State counsel has verified the aspect that the death of the mother-in-law of the petitioner has taken place and Antim Ardas (Bhog) has been fixed for 19.02.2023 and the information given in the Panchayatnama, Annexure P-2. Keeping in view the above fact, the verification has been done from the Lambardar and Panch of the village. Same is taken on record as Annexure R-1.
3. In view of the above, the present petition is allowed and the petitioner be released on interim parole from today i.e. on 16.02.2023 to 22.02.2023 subject to his furnishing personal/surety bonds to the satisfaction of the concerned CJM/Duty Magistrate and he is directed to surrender back on 23.02.2023 before the Jail authorities at 10:00 am.
4. Copy of this order be given to learned counsel for the petitioner under the signatures of the Bench Secretary of this Court.
Petition allowed.
