Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974), Section 154, 482 – Grievous injuries -- Non-taking of cognizance by police – Reference made to medical record -- Despite representation to the SSP no action has been taken in this regard -- It would be in the interest of justice to issue directions to respondents to look into the matter and the representation and to take action if required in accordance with law.

1. Present petition has been filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C for issuance of necessary directions to respondents No.2 and 3 to take appropriate legal action against respondents No.4 to 8 for causing grievous injuries as well as injuries dangerous to life by giving beatings to the minor son of the petitioner namely Ankush with deatly weapons
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that son of the petitioner was beaten up brutally by the private respondents and he has referred to medical record which he has attached as Annexure P-1 issued by the Government Medial College Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh. He has further submitted that despite his repeated requests to the police authorities and despite his representation to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala vide Annexure P-2 vide Diary no.450-P dated 08.09.2020 but no action has been taken in this regard.
3. Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3 only.
4. On asking of the Court, Mr. Luvinder Sofat, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the State – respondents No.1 to 3.
5. At this stage, it would be in the interest of justice to issue directions to respondents No.1 to 3 to look into the matter and the representation which has been filed by the petitioner and to take action if required in accordance with law.
6. Let the needful be done within a period of three weeks from today.
7. Disposed of.
Order accordingly.
